Ken Rosenthal reported yesterday that Padres assistant GM A.J. Hinch is a candidate for the Cubs managerial job, as likely is Brad Ausmus, although the list may be long. Hinch was a farm director in Arizona before Josh Byrnes made him manager, and he and Ausmus worked with Jed Hoyer. Clearly, with all the talent in their organization, the Cubs direction is to the development side, similar to the structures set up in Boston and Cleveland.
